→ INFO: The Professor's first Pokemon and will most likely be his closet companion. Claire is a very gentle Pokemon, both in manners and appearance; the perfect partner for a gentleman like Layton. She's a curious one and would often peek over from behind the Professor's legs, but she's also quite shy so she hides as well. She enjoys some of her trainer's visual puzzles and seems to have some knowledge on solving them. She's also very helpful to the Professor in terms of keeping her company, solving his puzzles, and helping make a campfire during the night. Claire also seems to be a bit overprotective when it comes to the Professor as in if you insult the man, she'll get angry and growl. She doesn't tolerate her trainer being bad mouthed, whenever you are human or Pokemon! It doesn't help that the Professor doesn't normally defend himself, but rather shrug it off and laugh. But overall, she's really friendly and kind. It's just don't try to get her bad side...On Christmas morning, Claire has been exposed to a Fire stone and has evolved into a beautiful Ninetales! Of course, this is from her own decision and she doesn't regret it at all. Just look at her! She's so graceful looking and she really is. Most of her personality is the same from being a Vulpix but it seems as if she has gotten a bit smarter! She can solve the Professor's puzzles much quicker and much more better in battles. She also has grown a small habit of wrapping her many tails around the Professor while he's sitting down or when they're out camping, cuddling up next to him. She's nice and warm, so he can't really complain! She's also his first and closet companion, so who is he to say no?

→ INFO: This is the first Pokemon that the Professor caught, with his Vulpix's help of course. The Professor read his given Trainer's Handbook multiple times the previous night and focused on the tips on catching Pokemon quite a lot. So the next night while he was setting up a fire, this bold Hoothoot thought it was a good idea to use the Professor's top hat as its perch...while he was still wearing it. After much flailing around and Claire using ember all over the place, what was more than a better time to put all that catching Pokemon tips to the test? Ta-Da! A Hoothoot was caught and named "Walter". Walter is brave and is unafraid of charging into danger, perfect for rescue missions and battles. However, despite this bold nature, Walter does not think plans through and that's the reason why the Professor tends to give more instructions for Walter compared to other Pokemon. It has seem to take a liking to the Professor's hat, often perching there whenever he's out of his pokeball. He doesn't enjoy or like any of the puzzles that the Professor gives, just completely ignoring them. However, since Walter had evolved on Oct. 31st, he had started to pay a bit more attention to the puzzles. Perhaps he gained some more intelligence since he evolved? Who knows, but at least he is starting to look over them. He no longer perches on the Professor's hat, but instead on his arm whenever the man holds one out. When there is no arm to perch at, it just flies around the top hat, still rather thinking of it as its perch. Heck, it even sometimes forgets about its new size and weight and...oh dear, there goes the Professor's neck! He's not going to live through Johto....
